Getting started · Receptionist
Your first day.
Made simple.
A receptionist needs to know your business and what to do next. Bring these few things, and review the important decisions once.
Get started ↗Five decisions. One useful first call.
Pick the right service and phone option
Choose your Receptionist tier and phone option. Choose a Vocapable-managed US local number for incoming receptionist calls, or connect your own verified Twilio account. Outbound campaigns use your own Twilio account; Receptionist can be added alongside an outbound plan. Get a supported US local business number without setting up your own Twilio account. Search by city, state or area code during paid setup; actual inventory, the number quote, accepted billing/funding and call qualification determine activation. Keep your chosen service and phone arrangement through setup.
Give your agent the essentials
Share a website if you have one, then review the business name, what you offer, who you serve, hours and common questions. Correct imported information before publishing it.
Tell it what a successful call looks like
Choose the information to collect and the action to take: a message, a qualified request or a human handoff. Decide which questions it should answer and which it should escalate.
Make the fallback as good as the greeting
Set closed hours, a transfer destination and the path to take when the team or AI is busy. A short recorded message and voicemail can do useful work without a conversational AI stream.
Run a real scenario, then go live
Check a normal question, a request for a human, a message outside business hours and a caller who wants to end the call. Confirm the result is visible in your workspace.
Check it from the place you will actually work.
If that is your phone, start there.
Make sure you can find the last call, understand its outcome and call the person back. Invite the people who should handle follow-ups, and confirm each has the right company access.
Explore the mobile experience ↗Before you announce your number
- Your greeting says the company name correctly.
- Business hours use the correct timezone.
- Your human destination can answer.
- Messages appear where your team expects them.
- You understand the subscription and usage charges.
